Statement on Maine joining U.S. Climate Alliance

Maine Gov. Janet Mills announced today that her state will join the bipartisan governors’ coalition, the U.S. Climate Alliance. Now more than half of Americans are represented by states committed to cut carbon pollution and meet the U.S. targets in the international Paris Agreement.

From Pollution to Solutions

While the United States is reeling from worsening wildfires and extreme weather, the success of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) is helping counter the climate change-denying policies emanating from inside the Beltway. Today, RGGI, Inc. Environment Maine laments feds’ decision to repeal Clean Car Standards

Maine proposes new regional limit on global warming pollution, but more ambition needed

Today, the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states announced a proposal to cut power plant pollution by at least 30 percent from 2020 to 2030. The proposal would strengthen what is already the best regional clean air and climate protection program in the country, the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative. This program limits dangerous pollution from power plants in Maine and across the region – helping to slow the warming of our planet and clean up our air. It also fuels investment in clean energy by making polluters pay to pollute.
