Environment Maine
Maine Ahead
Rep. Robert Duchesne

Maine has something that can’t be found elsewhere in the eastern United States: large, unbroken forests that support our forest products and paper industries, provide habitat for wildlife like moose, deer, bald eagles, and brook trout, and offer nearly unlimited recreation. As the pressure on these unspoiled places continues to grow, so too does the importance of having in place a thoughtful, consistent system for managing competing demands and allowing public input. The Land Use Regulation Commission has demonstrated that it is just such an entity, and can manage difficult decisions that balance development with natural values.
