Restaurants line up for 'Save Our Seafood' event

Chefs will be doing their part to save seafood by cooking it Monday in a benefit sponsored by Environment Maine.

"SOS: Save Our Seafood" will be 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn By the Bay, 88 Spring St. The event will feature local seafood dishes prepared by restaurants such as Cinque Terre, DiMillo's Floating Restaurant, Nakorping Thai, the Fire and Water Fish and Chop House at the Sable Oaks Marriott, and Geo's Patisserie Cafe.

Groups including the Midcoast Fishermen's Association, the Ocean Conservancy, the Northwest Atlantic Marine Alliance and the Southern Maine Community College marine science program will be there to showcase the work they're doing.

There will also be a silent auction with prizes from lots of local restaurants and food-related businesses, including The Frog and Turtle, Mim's, Gilbert's Chowder House, Granny Kirkwood's Shortbread, Good Clean Food, Maine Food and Lifestyle magazine, and Cinnabon.

Tickets are $10. For more information, go to www.environmentmaine.org or call Elizabeth Willis at 253-1966.
