AUGUSTA, Maine -- Lawmakers in Augusta said it’s time to fight back against the high price of energy -- including gasoline.
At a news conference at the State House Tuesday, Legislators announced
a total of seven bills they hope will help Mainers deal with rising
energy costs.
One bill calls for the prevention of price gouging at the pump. Another encourages the use of renewable energy.
Sen.
Philip Bartlett of Gorham said, “We cannot put these decisions off for
another year. Maine families are struggling. We must act now so we can
emerge from this energy crisis a stronger, more economically
competitive state.”
The lawmakers said the primary goal behind creating a new energy policy for the state is to help Maine families thrive.
