Maine has taken the first steps to fight global warming. But mounting evidence indicates we need to do more. We’ve
made a commitment to cut our emissions in line with what scientists say it will
take. Now, we need Gov. Baldacci to enact mandatory limits on pollution.
Petition Text Dear Gov. John Baldacci, Here in Maine, global warming could mean rising sea levels, retreating sugar maples and severe weather. But Maine has a lot to gain by working to solve global warming, from promoting clean energy to developing sustainable communities.
Maine has taken the first steps to fight global warming, but mounting evidence indicates we need to do more. Please continue your leadership on tackling global warming by supporting a mandatory cut in emissions to 1990 levels by 2010, 10 percent below 1990 levels by 2020, and 75 to 85 percent below 2001 levels by 2050.
